Reading: I finished reading One Day for the second time, and despite the rather unfortunate (that’s putting it lightly!) ending, I’m still just as obsessed with this will-they-won’t-they book as I was before. It reminded me why I love funny books – and why I want to write them as well.
Summer Days & Summer Nights, which I reviewed here, is also such a great June read. Full of romance and so, so sweet. I’m still chugging through All the Light We Cannot See and H is for Hawk, but I WILL (*says assertively to self*) finish them by the end of the summer… I think. Next on the list is a middle grade, Wolf Hollow, given to me as a wedding present by a very dear friend.
Watching: I’ve become more than a little bit obsessed with Jane the Virgin. I finally caved in to everyone who said, “It’s so good, you must watch!” And yeah, guys, you were right. It’s set in Miami, so I’m also dream-casting my novel as I watch. And naturally, I’m watching Game of Thrones, because… do I even really need to explain?
Working on: I’m still finishing a first draft of my second novel, and even amidst the chaos that is my soon-to-be wedding, it’s flowing rather smoothly. My last novel took a while to uncover the characters – who they are, who they wanted to be – but with my second book, the MC popped out almost fully formed. I’m looking forward to some time in July (or August? or September?) to sit down and bang out a complete first draft.
Listening to: Forest Fires by Axel Flóvent a million times over, and anything by Vance Joy.
The rest of June is going to be so hectic, but hopefully there will still be some reading involved. 🙂
